Hardware, firmware and software for devices that live inside the body.
Pulse generators, ICDs and powered implants, designed with the leads and housings they connect to. Boards and flex circuits are built here, so electronics iterate as fast as the rest of the device.

Miniaturized, integrated, implantable.
The electronics, the lead and the enclosure are designed together, which is where implant programs usually lose time.
Implantable pulse generators
IPGs for cardiac and neuromodulation therapies, including pain stimulators.
ICD and pacing systems
Implantable cardioverter defibrillators, pacing and CRT systems.
RF powered systems
Implants powered over RF instead of a primary battery.
Wireless charging
Inductive coupling and wireless charging for rechargeable implants.
Ablation controllers
RF and PFA ablation controllers paired with catheter designs.
Firmware and software
Device firmware and the software around it, built with the hardware team.
Boards in days, not a fab queue.
Electronics fabrication and assembly live next to the lead and catheter lines, so a full device can iterate together.
- Flex circuit fabrication
- PCB fabrication and assembly
- SMT and BGA assembly
- Blind and buried micro vias
- Impedance-controlled traces, 1–3 mil
- Laser welding
- Advanced device assembly
- Class VII cleanroom builds
Know how it behaves before it's implanted.
Electrical and signal testing runs in-house, with pre-clinical testing for the full system.
- Electronic testing
- Hi-pot testing
- Impedance testing
- Pacing impedance
- Signal analysis
- MRI conditional testing
- Perfused heart testing
- Pre-clinical animal models
Electronics projects, answered.
Do you design firmware and software as well as hardware?
Yes. Proton covers hardware, firmware and software for pulse generators, defibrillation systems, RF powered systems, pain stimulators and wireless charging.
Can you build the boards in-house?
Yes. Flex circuit fabrication, PCB fabrication and assembly, SMT and BGA assembly, blind and buried micro vias and impedance-controlled traces from 1 to 3 mil are all done here.
Have you taken an implantable device to first-in-human?
Yes. A fully implantable device with a CRM indication went from the start of design to first-in-human in five months.
Can you design the leads and electronics together?
Yes, and we recommend it. Lead, catheter and electronics design all happen under one roof, which keeps interfaces from becoming the bottleneck.
