Lead design and prototyping, from first build to first‑in‑human.
Cardiac, neuromodulation and defibrillation leads, designed, built and tested in-house. New lead designs go from the bench to test up to three times a week.

Leads for the hardest places in the body.
If it carries a signal to or from tissue, we've likely built something close to it.
Pacing and conduction system pacing
Cardiac pacing leads, including conduction system pacing (CSP) designs.
Defibrillation
Defibrillation leads for ICD and CRT systems.
Spinal and peripheral
Leads for spinal cord stimulation (SCS) and peripheral nerve stimulation (PNS).
Deep brain stimulation
DBS lead concepts and prototype builds.
Sleep apnea
Leads for sleep apnea neuromodulation systems.
First-of-their-kind leads
New indications and exploratory platforms with no predicate to copy.
The build steps stay in the building.
Lead prototypes don't wait on outside vendors. The processes a lead needs are already here, with capacity reserved for prototyping.

- Silicone molding
- Laser welding
- Surface treatment and priming
- Advanced device assembly
- Class VII cleanroom builds
Answers from the bench, fast.
Every build answers a question. Testing runs next to the line, so the next design can start the same week.
- Fatigue and stiffness
- Impedance and pacing impedance
- Hi-pot testing
- Signal analysis
- MRI conditional testing
- Perfused heart testing
- Fresh tissue testing
- Pre-clinical animal models
Lead projects, answered.
How fast can you iterate on a lead design?
Proton builds and tests new designs up to three times a week. The actual cadence depends on the lead, the materials and the test plan, and we'll tell you what to expect on the first call.
Can you take a lead from concept to first-in-human?
Yes. Feasibility builds, rapid prototyping, bench and pre-clinical testing, design refinement and builds for early clinical use all happen here. On a fully implantable CRM device, that path took five months from the start of design.
Do you run MRI conditional testing?
Yes. MRI conditional testing is part of our electrical and signal testing, alongside impedance, pacing impedance, hi-pot and signal analysis.
Can you build leads in a cleanroom?
Yes. Proton has a Class VII cleanroom for prototype and production builds, plus device and component inspection.
Your next lead design could be on the bench this week.
